Diriya Detha (Hands of Courage) is another growth oriented initiative of Institute of Growth Concepts (IGC) that links rural producers and products with national and international buyers and markets. It’s an innovative concept that hybrids the traditional isolated concepts such as entrepreneurship training; technology transfer; market access; environment protection; social development and product diversification. Conventional Business Development Service (BDS) organizations traditionally offer one or two of the above services during the so called “enterprise development programmes or projects”. Being different and innovative IGC has developed this new “hybrid concept” Diriya Detha in order make a lasting change among the micro and small enterprises as well as within the lives of praiseworthy entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka. In achieving this purpose IGC established a marketing mechanism, network of training facilities, service centers and a faculty of dedicated resource panel. So far IGC has opened six service centers in five districts to deliver the seven dimensional Diriya Detha services for 2401 potential and existing entrepreneurs island-wide. The seven dimensional services are;
1. Small business training-enhance entrepreneurial attitudes, knowledge and skills in sector specific perspective.
2. Technology transfer-upgrade technology by adopting appropriate technology.
3. Access to finance-form business partnerships with financial service providers/investors.
4. Market access-market information and linking entrepreneurs with buyers and emerging markets.
5. Environment protection-Application of green practices in production and distribution.
6. Social development-Empower the social conditions within the family by addressing social issues.
7. Enabling environment-setting conducive regulatory environment with public sector.
